Train of Thought
Your Church won’t save you,
when the Planet is burning
Can we stop living for (and hailing to) old symbols, achievements and systems – and instead building (pun intended)
a livable future?
Hundreds of millions have been pledged in a heartbeat. That’s good. We urgently need them to clean the oceans, green the cities, build sustainable energy plants, restore the schools, rethink agriculture, migrate people from sinking islands and drying deserts.
We don’t need them to rebuild a church, regardless how loved. It won’t be gone, as it’s painted and written in memories, books and the so-called internet. We will forever know its history.
Change is scary and habits ever so often feel like a save haven, but now is the time to wash away what no longer serves us,
to throw out the idea of nationalism and thrive as mankind to the next chapter.
And no, that’s not „whataboutism“, it’s not looking for what I like better.
It’s about priorities. Or wait, let’s make that singular: It’s about the one priority, that should unite all.
It’s about survival.
And it’s urgent.
Our planet IS burning.
